At BLACK EYEWEAR we believe that a good frame should help enhance the character of anyone who wears them. Each of our frames is designed keeping this in mind while mixing modern sensibility with edge. With Robert Recommends, Robert Roope, our founder and designer, and a dad and Grandfather himself, has personally trained our bespoke AI to deliver tailored frame recommendations based on his extensive career fitting and designing eyewear. You can also get recommendations for friends or family, by simply uploading a photo to see what Robert would suggest for them.
Our customers have always loved being personally fitted for eyewear by Robert. He has been the optician to celebrities and discerning individuals for nearly 60 years. Now in his 80s, it’s simply not as easy for him to meet all the people who want his help. With the help of his son, Tomas Roope RDI (fun fact, Tom was inducted into the Royal Designers for Industry at the same time as musician Brian Eno), we’ve found a way to preserve Robert’s unique, specialised expertise through the use of emerging technologies.

- The promoter is: Black Eyewear Ltd (company no.01439463) whose registered office is at Mercer House, 15 High Street, Redbourn, Hertfordshire, AL3 7LE.
- The competition is open internationally to anyone aged 18 years or over except employees of Black Eyewear and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.
- There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- Closing date for entry will be the 16th of June 2024 at 11:59PM GMT. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.
- The rules of the competition and how to enter are as follows:
- Email friends@blackeyewear.com with a screenshot of your Robert Recommends page. You can enter once for yourself, and again for any father figure(s) you wish to enter for.
- The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the promoter.
- The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.
- The prizes are as follows:
ONE PAIR OF BLACK EYEWEAR GLASSES OR SUNGLASSES of the winner’s choice from the frames recommended to them via Robert Recommends (depending on stock). Prescription lenses are not included.
THE PRIZE IS AS STATED AND NO CASH OR OTHER ALTERNATIVES WILL BE OFFERED.THE PRIZES ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. PRIZES ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY AND WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE ANY PRIZE WITH ANOTHER OF EQUIVALENT VALUE WITHOUT GIVING NOTICE.
- Winners will be chosen at random by software, from all entries received and verified by Promoter and or its agents.
- The winner will be contacted via email on the 17th of June 2024. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 72h, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
- The promoter will notify the winner when the prize will be delivered.
- The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
