The Story Behind Black Eyewear’s First Frames.
The early designs of my Black Eyewear collection took inspiration from glasses of the 1950s. It was a decade of eyewear design that shaped the future of the optical industry.
It really is all about ‘the fit’. Your frames should beautifully and architecturally frame the structure of your face. Black Eyewear designer Robert Roope is a master of ‘the fit’ – having worked for more than 50 years in the business of optics.
“Like Frank Gehry‘s architecture embraces the landscapes in which they are created,” Roope says, “there are similar echoes and challenges here; we survey facial ‘landscapes’ to create eyewear that fits and enriches the identity of the place it occupies.”
