Blue Light Filter

What is a Blue Light Filter?
The Blue Light Filter coating filters surplus blue light from screens and artificial light sources and is available for clear lenses. Recent studies have shown that while it is true that digital screens emit some blue light, the level of blue light exposure we get from computers and smartphones is significantly lower than that from natural daylight.

Is this the right premium coating for me?
Even though this isn’t dissimilar to the night mode functions available on your devices, you might want to consider adding a Blue Light Filter to your lenses if you find yourself using a screen at night for a prolonged length of time and are experiencing symptoms associated with digital eye strain. Customers have reported that Blue Light Filter can be helpful for maintaining a healthy sleeping pattern as our bodies tend to associate blue light with daytime and confuse our internal clocks.

The optician notes: It’s worth mentioning that some of the main causes of eye strain are actually glare and reading (or driving) without pausing to rest your eyes. To relieve the symptoms it’s important you have lenses with an anti-reflective coating and try – when possible – to schedule periodic breaks to avoid eye fatigue.

Photochromic (Reactive) Lenses

What are Photochromic Lenses?
These lenses are available for all our spectacles and are light adaptive which means they will darken in outdoor sunlight. When exposed to UV light these lenses change from clear to a progressively darker tint and quickly return to clear when back indoors. Available in: green, grey, or brown tints.

Are these the right lenses for me?
Thanks to their versatility, these lenses can offer an on-the-go life-changing solution if you spend a lot of time going from indoors to outside, ensuring a comfortable vision and 100% protection against UV rays in all light conditions without having to change glasses.

Photochromic Lenses are a great option when you spend most of the day outdoors if you experience super-intense light or high temperatures and don’t want to compromise on comfort no matter the climate, season or lifestyle.

For a truly bespoke experience, you can choose from three natural tints to better match your frames and unique style.

Optician notes: Wearing photochromic lenses is a great way to get protection from the sun, which is crucial to maintaining healthy vision. With fast and responsive technology, photochromic lenses protect your eyes from harmful light including UV light and Blue-Violet light.
